Northern Lutherie LLC was founded by designer & luthier Ryan Monroe. As an upright bass player he was always trying to find an affordable pickup that would deliver natural tone, control, and high output. He tried nearly every pickup on the market to no avail. In 2009 He began to design pickups, and finally was able to standardize lines of affordable pickups in March 2018 which he could bring to the Market.
